YANGON, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The award ceremony of the 2026 "Chinese Bridge" Chinese proficiency competition for foreign college, secondary school and primary school students in the Yangon zone was held here on Friday.
The event attracted over 300 representatives from various sectors of both China and Myanmar.
Shen Dan, minister counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, said in his speech that the "Chinese Bridge" competition plays an important role in promoting the development of Chinese language education in Myanmar and enhancing cultural exchanges between the two countries.
He expressed hope that students would understand a real, multidimensional and comprehensive China through learning the Chinese language, and learn about the new opportunities brought by Chinese modernization to the joint development of neighboring countries and the world, thereby contributing the power of youth to inheriting and developing the traditional friendship between China and Myanmar.
Launched in April this year, the competition attracted over 1,000 contestants from dozens of schools in the southern part of Myanmar.
