Quetta, Pakistan - In a shocking turn of events, the son of prominent Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Abdul Razzaq Shar, who was fatally shot in a drive-by attack in Quetta, has filed a case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, alleging his father's murder was orchestrated by Khan himself. The case registration came to light on Wednesday, further intensifying the political turmoil surrounding the incident.
The tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday when unidentified assailants ambushed Shar's vehicle near Alamo Chowk on Airport Road. Reports suggest that en route to the Balochistan High Court, the lawyer became the target of unknown gunmen armed with automatic weapons. Succumbing to the onslaught, Shar suffered 15 bullet injuries and died instantly, leaving the legal community in shock.
Amidst the grief and anger, the blame game between the government and the PTI began. Prime Minister's aide Attaullah Tarar accused Imran Khan of masterminding the murder to evade accountability in a treason case.
Tarar alleged that Shar's constitutional petition, filed against Khan in the Balochistan High Court, seeking proceedings against the ex-premier under Article 6 for high treason, had provoked the tragic incident.
In response, PTI spokesperson Raoof Hassan pointed fingers at Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, implicating them in the lawyer's murder.
The case filed by Shar's son, Advocate Siraj Ahmed, sheds light on the ongoing legal battle between his father and Imran Khan. The petition accused Khan of illegally dissolving the National Assembly after a no-trust motion was filed against the PTI government in April 2022. Shar's plea demanded Khan's trial under Article 6, citing a previous Supreme Court decision recommending legal action against Khan and Qasim Suri.
